- Eat at regular intervals; no more than 3 hours between each meal and snack.
- Drink your water; a 130 pound person should begin by consuming about 7 cups of water over the duration of a day.
- Consume some sort of healthy dietary fat at each meal; olive oil, mixed nuts or flaxseed oil and take a fish oil supplement daily.
- Eat a 1-2 servings of vegetables at each meal (one serving is ½ cup). Avoid grains, rice and potatoes whenever possible.
- Have a protein with each meal and snack.

- Exercise within your capacity to enjoy what you’re doing; some days you’ll feel like going harder and some days not. That’s okay.
- Be consistent; the single best thing you can do is to do something everyday.
- Listen to your body (see #1); pain is an important message needing to be heard, don’t ignore it. Discomfort on the other hand, may just be your old self kicking and screaming in defiance of the goals set by your new self.
- Have a plan.
- When your plan stops working, change it. No one got anywhere by staying in the same spot.
